Happy New Year! It's a new year and everything is the same as it was yesterday. OK, not everything. In Maryland or at least in Montgomery County you have to pay 5 cents for each paper or plastic bag that you use at any store. I wonder if that really includes all stores. I digress. I woke up late and weighed myself for two reasons: I have an appointment for a physical tomorrow. Yipee. I am restarting my quest to lose weight. My doc is going to say something, so I am going to say that I am already addressing the situation. I have to be good to my body. More energy, more exercise. The exercise still alludes me, but one of my other resolutions as it has been always is to leave work at a reasonable time. Hopefully, my teammate will be able to help me with this. Then at the very least I can do an exercise show on ON DEMAND. I really want to go swimming, but that may have to be weekends only. I have to do some research on that, but I believe the pool in Germantown has the most hours.
I didn't really think this post through. I just wanted to get it down and out to my loyal, nonjudgmental, wonderful followers as well as anyone else who may see this on Facebook and care to read it. As always, please leave your comments here.
P.S. I'm not sure what I will do to handle the stress when it inevitably strikes.
EXERCISE is hard work. half the battle is making time to do the kind of exercise that YOU want to do! if you want to swim, make the time. if it means getting up EARLIER and hitting the pool before work.. or if its on the way home. i think in the next school year, when both kids are in high school (did i say that? the both kids in HS? when did that happen??? ) i am going to try and do that.(there is a gym by my house with changing facilities... i hate coming home from work and going back out again. i do that now, and have for YEARS. but it is getting old. but i truly enjoy jazzercise. and since there are classes just about EVERY evening.i pick 2 or 3 evenings week to just go. regardless of what my house looks like. we have to make the time for us because if we don't, no one else will. ....
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right. There is a zumba studio near my house. The pool is not that close by, but if I go on my way home, It is much better than coming home and going back out again. It is partly a money issue. I was going to buy a bike. I had a bike before, but I didn't like riding by myself. So we'll see. I know that exercise is key.
ReplyDeletemoney is always an issue. have you tried jazzercise? i think its a little less impact than zumba... i hate exercising alone as well... and having a classful of people help make me stay on track. check out http://jazzercise.com/ for class locations/schedules. an there is no equiptment to buy unless you want to. (i purchased my own mat/and weights so i know that i have the weights I want to use available. but most sites have a little of everything to choose from). wish you lived closer. and i could walk/ride with you. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you lived closer too. That would be fun.
ReplyDeleteit is always fun to exercise with a buddy :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you! I just checked the Germantown pool schedule for you; Thanks for mentioning it! I thought it was still closed for construction, but I guess that is done. So, Monday it seems they re-open after a New Year's break.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I just got a great new bike on sale, ( a real one, ie, not stationary), and I'll ride with you! I seem to be in MV every day as it is!
And hubby, synagogue board member, says: We can start an exercise group at the Temple. On your schedule, maybe straight from work, at your convenience??? It's a thought!
That was my first post ever anywhere, so I'll be remaining anon until I figure out how to sign up...In the meantime, FYI, the actual time noted is incorrect, y'all,
ReplyDeleteAt least for the East Coast. They post the time here as if it's Pacific Time; However, it is now 6:29pm
Thanks Anonymous. I don't have a bike yet, but I'd join an exercise group as long as it is for those of us who are out of shape, but that is a great idea. If I can get all of my stuff ready tomorrow, I can go swimming after work on Tuesday. It is my goal to leave work on time-ish. 2:45 is on time. 3:30 is on time-ish and that is what I am going for.
